What to expect

Ko Olina is the gold standard for toddler-and-baby beach days. Four engineered lagoons (Kohola #1, Honu #2, Naia #3, Ulua #4) ring the resort coast — each is a semi-circular sand-bottom pool with rock breakwaters that take all the swell. Water is clear, shallow, and basically wave-free. Public access is real and protected; resort guests don't own these lagoons.

Parent notes

Each lagoon has a small public parking lot (free but limited — arrive before 9 AM on weekends). Lagoon 4 (Ulua, the southernmost) and Lagoon 1 (Kohola, the northernmost) typically have more parking. The paved promenade lets you walk between lagoons easily. Bring everything; food at the resort restaurants is expensive.

Safety

Lifeguarded on the lagoon side by resort + city services. Water is shallow but kids should still be in arm's reach in the deeper center.

Tsunami zone

This beach sits in the Tsunami Evacuation Zone per Hawai‘i Statewide GIS. If sirens sound or shaking is felt, move inland and uphill immediately. Hawai‘i Emergency Management →
